[pygame] 1.2 on the horizon

The end of this month is going to be the time for a new
pygame release. now are the last few days you get to
promote any additions you want to see to pygame before
1.2 is pumped out.

especially important are any bugs you've found but
haven't yet reported (hehe, anyone?)

in good news, i've just checked in the final features i
wanted for the pygame.movie module. now you get looping,
scaling, and limited support for audio.

also, the windows fixes for SMPEG.dll that John Popplewell
sent in did a great job. i've now been listening to MP3
music without any pops or skips. this fixed a ton of
problems in the Movie sound decoding too, so there is now
"limited" support for sound in movies.

I'm pretty confident that pygame is now quite bulletproof. i'm
hoping we won't get any "2 days after" bug reports like we
did right after the pygame 1.1 release. :-/
(argh, i still cringe from that crashing bug in transform.flip)

i don't expect the pygame.movie module to be 100% problem free,
but i'm not too worried about that. this module is working
great for me on windows, and i'd like to get it out there
so we can get some wider usage. so if you have any concerns
for using pygame.movie for your next project, please test
it out now. otherwise consider it a little untested until
the day that pygame1.3 ever appears :]

around thursday i plan to lock the code, and hopefully we
can get our binary packagers together for another exciting
release. speaking of which, we have an empty slot in the
position of RPM maintainer.

if anyone is running a RedHat or Mandrake system, please
step forward. you will provide you with foolproof instructions
and assistance for creating the RPM package. even if you've
never created an RPM before, no need to fear.
