I hadn't actually thought of the Open Source SIS.
I've developed a solution (specific for the school I am working with) in php with a database back-end for storing all the appointment/reservation information, but I don't think it's ready for public consumption right at the minute. I will definitely have a look at the Open SIS route and the existing modules that exist on there.
