APLM (Alex Personal Library Manager) is a set of Perl scripts for
managing a small library. It is designed to be easy to set up, easy to
use, very customizable, and self-contained. It lets you type in your
books, change a few paths, and get going without worrying about MySQL or
anything. It also has a Web interface.

Citation is a bibliographical conversion program designed to transform
data between several different formats including GTEC, Refer, and
Bibtex. This program saves the researcher time by keeping unnecessary
formatting from taking up their time. Currently, Citation is written in
Java. The use of Java moves much of the processing of the program to the
user's machine. After downloading the Citation applet, the user is free
to log off the network, but can still continue using the Citation
applet.

Education Center is a free set of PHP scripts to administer a corporate
education and examination system via Internet/intranet. It allows you to
submit, update, and manage courses and examinations. You can also manage
user access to the EC system, view and manage education resources, and
show students' personal progress and different types of exam taking
ratings. It requires PHP4 or higher (with session support enabled),
MySQL 3.22.x, 3.23.x or higher.

Engrusdict is a port of the Freedict Russian-English and English-Russian
dictionary to Linux (and possibly other POSIX operating systems). It
allows you to enter Russian characters without a Russian keyboard.

The EnRus dictionary tools are TCL/Tk scripts for reading a textual
(plain or compressed by gzip or bzip2) dictionary base and compiling new
dictionary bases from plain text files. It consists of a few TCL console
scripts and a Tk interface to them. It is configurable for different
languages. The dictionary base may contain proper formatting and output
procedures.

Flare is an online, Java based framework and toolset designed to
facilitate the learning of foreign languages. The goal is to provide an
online environment that brings people from different cultures together
by sharing a common goal of learning a new language.

The Grades editor provides a GUI with which you can edit a Grades-XML
file. This file is easily transformed into an HTML table, using an XSL
stylesheet. HTML tables for students and teachers are generated
automatically, including (periodic) averages.  Everything has been
written in Java, so it should work on any platform.

Hanzim ("Hanzi Master") is an interactive visual dictionary for learning
and seeing relationships between Chinese radicals, characters, and
compounds. All the characters with a given radical, phonetic component,
or pronunciation can be displayed, and all words containing a character,
with English meanings. All data is stored locally. Either simplified or
traditional characters can be used.

ISS (Internet School System) is a suite of scripts designed to make
schools more modernized. It aims to decrease dependence on manual data
input by a single person by facilitating the cooperation of the entire
school. It currently features a club registration system.

Mathtools is a small, module-based mathematics program which allows you
to calculate the surface and volume of several geometric figures and
make use of some applications of algebraic functions. It is easy to add
modules to the program. Mathtools is written in Pascal.

setting up communities. It also has tools for personal management. Its

This is the first respectable English-Russian Dictionary with
transcription (IPA) under GNU GPL. The dictionary has 46233 word
articles and is 5.5MB. "MOVA" is a set of Bash and Tcl/TK scripts for
dictionry management under UNIX.

The NumericalChameleon converts numbers with a precision of up to 1000
significant figures. The latest version supports 73 categories,
including lengths, areas, volumes, durations, bits & bytes, angles,
temperatures, exchange rates, roman numerals, spoken numbers, one of 36
possible radixes, and more. You can add new categories and units, and
you can modify or delete the existing ones. The NumericalChameleon is a
platform-independent Java application. It runs under any operating
system with a Java Virtual Machine.

quizzes is very easy to understand and write, and two small sample
quizzes are included.

SAGU, which is a portuguese acronym for "Sistema Aberto de Gestão
Unificada", was originaly designed to automate all of what that happens
between a student and their Educational Institution. This relationship
happens at the academic, financial and administrative levels, and SAGU
has subsystems dedicated to these levels. SAGU can be tailored to fit
the needs of any Educational Institution.

SLIS is a TCP/IP gateway for schools. It provides advanced functions to
students and teachers, such as a filtering proxy/cache, email addresses,
access control, Web replication, Web mirroring, an intranet Web server
with PHP and PostgreSQL, user management, DHCP, remote monitoring of a
global set of SLIS servers, live update, etc. All of this is provided by
an easy-to-use Web interface. All of the project is in French, but work
is in progress to make it international.

The HACK Project (aka Project I) is a Java based computer simulator,
intended for use by students who wish to learn about how a computer
works. Every layer of the computer is "visible," and thus can be studied
more closely. The final notion is to enable closer study of computer
architecture from the ground (CPU, assembly) up (Virtual machine,
Compiler etc.).

Word Inspector is a graphical front-end to the "dict" program. The dict
program allows you to search through one or more dictionary-like
reference books for a word, then displays its definition. Word Inspector
expands that by allowing you to enter words to look up more easily,
easily look up words that appear in the definition for another word, and
automatically look up a word in the X Windows selection.
