Re: [school-core] Re: Software Categories for Schoolforge.net

Do you think it will hurt the searches to put the links in schoolish categories?

Administration - Computer
             |
             |
             -----Administration - Desk/laptop
             -----Administration - School
             -----Administration - Server
Arts

  |
  -----Drawing
  -----Music
  -----Painting
Languages
Library
Mathematics
Phs Ed/Health
Sciences
Social Studies

Perhaps we could tag videos, etc., as multimedia, but put them in
their most-likely subject box?

I think the categories resemble those on most of the net and that, I
suppose is good for the sake of familiarity for new users, but it's
not good, in my opinion, when we have a site dedicated, ostensibly, to
education and we stick everything educational in one group. To me, it
should not be categorized like every other place on the Web, but
should speak to teachers.

Don't you think this should look like something a teacher would find
familiar? Or am I on the wrong track?

By the way, is Lee now on this list?
As I remember, Schoolforge core was very small in the past and used
only to discuss administrivia. It's hard to draw the line, isn't it?

I like Justin's idea of telling the list about it, but qualifying it
with -- those who are ready to put in some time.
What do you think?
