Same situation here.

I saw this annoying crop too. This is the procedure, that works for me:

1) print to file with options "Extends-with-margins" and "Landscape" 

2) ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE=a4 FILENAME.ps

IMHO, the ability to produce PDF directly from gschem is a missing 
feature.
