I downloaded the latest snapshot (Friday, 10-Feb-2006 22:57:19 EST),
Alas, I spent the better part of this afternoon trying to build it, but
failed so far. First, lesstif-devel was missing, so I downloaded and
installed it. Now I get countless 'undefined reference' error messages,
most relating to _XmStrings, such as the following:
hid/lesstif/main.c:868: undefined reference to `_XmStrings'
I think this is a bit weird; according to the README file, the only
requirements should be X11R6, GNU M4, bison, and flex - and all these
are present on my Mandriva 2006 system (kernel 2.6.12-12mdk).
Now I could start hunting again for whatever provides _XmStrings, but my
experience tells me that this course of action is usually a waste of
time, as I only get entangled in more dependencies and library version
problems, without ever understanding the real cause of the problem.
IOW: what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Richard Rasker
P.S.: Did someone find a solution to the GSpiceUI build problem, also an
"undefined reference":
"undefined reference to `pango_x_get_context'"
