Removing my gtkrc forcing the MS-Windows theme fixed the problem you
mentioned in PCB (on my Wine install at least).

Back to gschem:

With the font issue, looks like "something" is getting the scaling wrong.
I'm not sure what, but it feels all to familiar.

Does the text scale "correctly" as you zoom in / out on the page, or does it
sit at the same size?
