I disagree with this statement. The lack of footprint choosing aids is 
annoying, even with a fair amount of projects under the belt. I work with 
geda almost every day and made all the symbols and footprints I use. Still, 
I find myself scratching my head when it comes to choosing the footprint of 
some not so common component.
