gEDA-user: A "knife" tool for PCB?
I'm kind of annoyed that 'insert point' won't just break a straight line.
It would be useful as a setup for a second insertion, or to be able to
trim off the end of a line (say if you do a rough route of a bus partway
and need to clean up the length).
However, instead of just changing 'insert' to break lines even if you don't
move the point, I was thinking about a better tool. What about a 'knife'
that lets you drag out a straight line and then cuts every wire it crosses.
The resulting board would be electrically identical, but there would be new
line segments that could be selected individually.
The function is still basically 'insert point' so it could be an alternate
form of the same tool. The current tool doesn't do anything if you click
away from a line, for example. Instead that could start a 'knife' action.
Or maybe it requires a modifier key? Or a whole new tool?
Any other ideas on how to do this?
