[pygame] Success ::Re: pygame and cygwin

OK...
I couldn't wait until getting back from town, so at peril of missing
closed post office (doh)
I removed Python, then removed it again (there were 2 installs, one
linked into cygwin sort-of-ish
and one in windows)
Then I removed Numpy (with errors during remove)
Then tried to remove pygame-win32 prebuilt, but that failed with 'cannot
open log', possibly 'cos
I'd removed Python and Numpy first ?

Then... restart machine.
And, then :
1. install Python 2.1.1 from
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/python/Python-2.1.1.exe
2. install Numpy from
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/numpy/Numeric-20.1.0.win32-py2.1.exe
3. install pygame from
http://www.pygame.org/ftp/pygame-1.1.win32-py2.1.exe
4. (oh and notepro, which is serving me well as an editor)

And... cross fingers... run python from cmd (windoze) prompt
C:\>python
Python 2.1.1 (#20, Jul 20 2001, 01:19:29) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] on win32
Type "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>>import Numeric
>>>import pygame
>>>import pygame.base

!!! excellent, seems to be working...

I obviously shouldn't have attempted a cross-platform source compilation
of SDL_* and pygame as my first
cygwin/pygame/python/distutils(!?) project
hehe.

Thank you very much for your patient support Pete, Frank, Ben &
pygame-users.

Now I look forward to creating sthng in pygame.
And learning how to build it from source... on a linux box this time !
