i just tried it out too. seems like a great start, and i
didn't run into any difficulties. my only suggestion would
be the 'instant movement' effect. some sort of transition
between positions would be much better. perhaps even better,
general transitions that represent different types of
movement. for example, some kind of sliding left/right
to represent turning?

my other thought would be to use regular images for the
cursor. since the cursor is such an important tool for
the game, it seems kind of constricting for it to be limited
to 2 colors and relatively smaller sizes. of course, this
means you'll need to handle all the cursor drawing yourself
(like a big sprite animating around the screen), but that
is not enough work to be a problem.

of course, mpeg animations for the movement would rock
(like the old 7th guest). but that does get very troublesome
if you are in a room with different positions/settings for
objects. still, if the environment is already in a 3d package,
it should be easy enough to produce lots of mpegs from inside :]
