Dan, take a look at the Linux Terminal Server Project <http://www.ltsp.org> for
info on setting up Linux diskless workstations.  There's also Rich Kaszeta's
article from Linux Gazette <http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue27/kaszeta.html>.
It deals with using a Debian install on older hardware for X terminals.  Since
the 68K Macs are easiest to setup using Debian, I found his article very
helpful.
