Dan: Is this really the latest gEDA in BSD?

Oliver: Yes, it is very old. Its before we changed to a numbered release
system, so is before version 1.0, which was made on 20070526.

You'd positively love gEDA 1.4.3 compared to those pre 1.0 versions, so
if you can find a different port, or build from source, it would be well
worth your effort.

gEDA 1.4.x is pretty rock solid stable (* although as a developer, I
could probably figure out a few secret ways to crash it).

I'd presume you've hit various bugs with the version you're using by
now...
