I don't care about the words.  I care about the ideas, the concepts,
the use-cases.  You throw "factored design" around like it's the
solution to everything, but it's a meaningless term without a specific
solution behind it.

Unfortunately, PCB layout is a much more complex task than schematic
layout, because the result *does* mean something in the physical world
*as well as* meaning something in the symbolic world.
