Unfortunately, it is not a common file format among 3D mechanical CAD 
applications. While VRML output is great for realistic rendering with 
blender and the likes, it does not help with holes in front panels and 
weird electromechanical stuff.

This may be the reason, why 3D CAD apps tend not to use VRML for import.
