That would be mighty hard to win, or even find a lawyer who'd do that on 
a contingency base.

They do say that, but to downloaders. To uploaders they say that with 
posting they grant anyone who wishes the right to do whatever they 
please with the uploaded stuff. But they allow to put GPL and such terms 
in if you like, it's just that hardly anyone does. With symbols I don't 
really see a reason why anyone should. When we bring a chili casserole 
to church we don't do that either, anyone can eat some and have the 
recipe :-)

No further? What good does a symbol or footprint do if it must eternally 
make its dwelling in the browser? Maybe you meant that it can also be 
installed in the person's gEDA libs and then be used.
