As a heavy user of another technical wiki I can report this doesn't happen there. Wikipedia is a special thing in that matter, because it's a lot about opinions and politics.

In a technical wiki you're glad to get a few edits each day and as typically the page creator "maintains" a page, it's easy to review edits. The only difficult thing here is to accept edits, even if you'd have it written differently. Heavy re-editing and deleting contributions makes people go away quickly, so don't do this but add your view as well.
